The winners of the Westminster Dog Show in 2008 included an Australian Shepherd in the Herding category, a Standard Poodle in the Non Sporting category and a Toy Poodle in the Toy category, a Sealyham Terrier in the Terrier category, a Beagle in the Hound category, a Weimaraner in the Sporting dog category and an Akita in the Working dog category. And the big winner was "Uno" the Beagle that was entered in the Hound category. We have some of these dogs in glass and they are gorgeous.

2006 was the year of the Dog. And what a great year it was!
2007 was the year of the pig. Another great year for all of us. And 2008 is the year of the Rat (or if you prefer...the year of the mouse) and it began on February 18, 2008. It is going to be a great year for all of us..

And for all you Birmingham fans - Holiday Treasures has a gorgeous new Birmingham Santa glass ornament and a Birmingham round ball glass ornament that you will want to leave out all year on ornament hangers. They will have many of your favorite Birmingham landmarks such as Vulcan and the Sloss Furnace and 4 or 5 more landmarks. These ornaments are being made exclusively for Holiday Treasures in Birmingham, Alabama. They will be limited to approximately 120 of each ornament so call and reserve your ornaments now. They are being made by Joy To The World and both of these ornaments will be part of the Glitterazzi collection.

For all you dog lovers the Joy To The World collection called "Diva Dogs" has some of the most popular breeds dressed in jeweled collars, beautiful glittered coats and even velvet hoodies.

We have a large selection of Department 56 Village pieces. We have an entire room at Holiday Treasures set up with the Department 56 Village pieces and accessories and lights and all the fun things that go into those cute little towns. Come by and check them out...the staff at the shop have done an outstanding job making you wish you could shrink yourself down to 2 inches and frolic in those cute neighborhoods. We have the Department 56 Snow Village Halloween....with some ghoulish lights and sounds. Also Department 56 The Original Snow Village where you find "Christmas Lane". And the Department 56 Dickens' Village Series that take you back to Charles Dickens' era. The Department 56 North Pole Series is fun and fanciful with lots of things that move and light up. And the Department 56 Christmas In The City Series has some gorgeous buildings.

Holiday Treasures really is "Goin' To The Dogs". We have big dogs and little dogs, we have white dogs and harlequin dogs. About 300 breeds of glass dog ornaments from Joy To The World are available currently. Making the molds and producing a glass ornament takes a lot of time and Joy To The World has done a fantastic job of the glass dog ornaments they have completed. One glass dog ornament takes about a week to make. First the dog is mouth blown into the perfect mold and then the dog is hand painted. So each glass dog ornament is an original work of art. Along with the Joy To The World dogs you will see a mix of glass dog ornaments by Christopher Radko, Polonaise and Slavic Treasures.

We have some fantastic goodies from that wonderful folk artist....Penny McAllister. Several of the Penny McAllister one of a kind pieces that we have at Holiday Treasures have become overnight "celebrities". They got a spread in the Special Collector's Issue of HOLIDAYS Southern Lady. Look for them on pages 98 thru 107 in the article Holiday Sweet Swap. Since the article came out some of the "stars" have gone to live with our good customers. We have several other Penny McAllister one of a kind pieces and a few of the reproduction pieces still available. There is a wonderful article about Penny McAllister in the November/December 2007 issue of Home Companion. The sewing bug bit Penny McAllister at the tender age of five. Nearly 50 years later, the former elementary school librarian has woven her passion for folk art into a dream occupation, making paper mache' creations full of wit and whimsy. We have a great selection of The Penny McAllister Collection for you to choose from.

Attention all you glitter lovers. Joy To The World introduced a gorgeous new line in 2007 called "Glitterazzi-Gemstone Editions". According to Lisa Kelechava, President and Founder of Joy To The World, "We have broken new ground again by offering ornaments decorated with precious and semi-precious gemstones. These pieces offer even the most discriminating client or collector something very special". Joy To The World also added more beautiful ornaments to the regular Glitterazzi collection. There is a gorgeous new "Glitterazzi Wedding Car" to go with the Glitterazzi Gemstone Santa "With This Ring". These make a perfect gift for the new bride in your life.

Joy To The World is proud to unveil its Glitterazzi Specialist exclusive pieces. "Purple Passion" is the first of six Glitterazzi exclusive pieces that will be offered through the network of Glitterazzi Specialist only. Holiday Treasures is proud to be one of the Glitterazzi Specialist. "Purple Passion" is a limited edition of just 120 pieces, and features four 6MM Mystic Topaz stones. The Topaz stones used on this piece have purple and green coloration to them, lending to the Peacock theme. The second in the 2007 series has been unveiled. The Tanzanite Forest is a gorgeous Santa with 2 Tanzanite stones, one of the most coveted gemstones in the world. There are only 91 pieces of the Glitterazzi Tanzanite Forest Santa being made because of the rarity of the stones.

The newest thing from Joy To The World is a collection that is 124 years in the making - Ino Schaller Paper Mache' Candy Containers and Ino Schaller Glass ornaments. These are inspired by the Schaller family and their old world holiday designs. The exclusive Joy To The World Paper Mache' designs are beautifully decorated in the Schaller tradition, and each candy container comes with a surprise inside - a miniature replica glass ornament.

We have been in the mail order business since 1989, the store has been open since 1996 and we thank all our customers for their support and for coming back year after year to help us celebrate all the holidays. We had our 10 year anniversary party at the shop in 2006. Everybody had a great time with Pete and Daryl and Allen and the gang. There was fantastic food and cake and ice cream and free gifts.
